Better Than Yesterday

Hanna's Story

Hanna Barker is a professional soccer player who has spent the last six seasons playing overseas in Europe. During this time, she has had the opportunity to reflect on what is truly important to her. As an athlete, Barker is driven by the desire to compete, succeed, and achieve at the highest levels. However, she has come to understand that there is much more to success than external validation.

Barker believes that the essence of true competition and the highest form of praise come from within. This realization has allowed her to unlock her potential and strive to be the best version of herself. Living away from her family, learning new languages, and adapting to different cultures have provided her with invaluable experiences and skills that she could not have gained in America. Despite the challenges of loneliness and frustration, Barker feels fortunate to live her dream and embrace the diverse experiences that come her way.

Focus on the Dream

Football has always been Barker’s primary focus, with aspirations to excel, play every minute, and lead her team to victory. Yet, as her journey has evolved, it has become about more than just her personal achievements in soccer. Starting from a young age with a dream to play professionally, Barker has grown and developed into someone she is proud of. She now seeks to share her knowledge and experiences with the next generation of dreamers.

You vs You

Barker emphasizes the importance of facing adversity to test one’s resilience and prepare for the next level of the journey. The mantra “You vs You” serves as a constant reminder for her to focus on self-improvement rather than comparing herself to others. By striving to be 1% better every day, Barker believes that significant progress can be made over time.

Having faced adversity and achieved success in her career, Barker feels a sense of responsibility to share her insights and provide guidance to young athletes. She aims to make a difference by offering strategies for playing and succeeding at the next level, utilizing the tools and knowledge she has acquired throughout her career.
